All pregnant women have routine scans at both 12 and 20 weeks.
In some cases important defects / problems with the baby are missed and the parents then lose the opportunity for treatment or to decide whether to continue with the pregnancy.
Problems that can be missed include:
- Down Syndrome
- Spina Bifida
- Physical Abnormalities
- Problems with the heart
- A small jaw that may indicate other problems
