As people grow older they can become more vulnerable, and unfortunately this can make them a target of elder abuse.
While this type of abuse is often proven in care homes, it can occur outside of that setting. An elder who is receiving care in their own home may suffer abuse, or may be caused unnecessary harm in a different scenario.
Our abuse solicitors understand the physical and psychological impact abuse can have on elderly citizens, and will do their utmost to secure the compensation deserved and bring abusers to justice. If you wish to talk to us about your situation, call us free on 0808 164 0808. Or, if you feel more comfortable, you can request a call back and one of our team will call you.
Sometimes elders can face abuse and neglect in care homes. Care and nursing home staff have the responsibility of looking after people in their care, and sadly this doesn’t always happen as it should.
Not only can some elders face physical abuse while living in a care or nursing home, but they may also be targets of neglect, if a care provider fails to give them adequate standards of care and treatment.
Our clinical negligence specialists are well experienced in handling care home and nursing home compensation claims. If you think your loved one may be a victim of abuse in their care home or nursing home, we strongly advise you to get in touch with our team.
Outside of a care or nursing home setting, elder abuse by a carer could occur at home. Some people who need care may still live in their home but will have regular visits from a carer every day. Unfortunately abuse and neglect can happen in this setting.

Sadly, elders can be taken advantage of for financial gain. This type of abuse may involve family members who might also abuse power of attorney, or strangers who might convince elderly citizens to part with large amounts of money in scams.
If you’ve been a victim of this type of abuse, or you think a loved one may have, please talk to our elder abuse lawyers as soon as you can.
We understand the sensitivity of these types of claims, and will work with you and your loved one to make sure they receive the compensation they deserve for their pain and suffering.
If the elder abuse claim relates to care or nursing home abuse or neglect, there’s a good chance the organisation will have their own skilled legal team defending them. But rest assured, our elder abuse solicitors are highly experienced in these types of claims, and will work closely with our clinical negligence experts to provide the legal advice you need.
Once we’ve had initial discussions about what’s happened, we’ll continue to support you from a legal standpoint if you wish to take legal action against the abuser.
Call us free today to see how we can help you understand your options on 0808 164 0808, or request a call back if you’d like one of our no-win, no-fee experts to call you.
We offer no win, no fee agreements (also known as Conditional Fee Arrangements (CFAs) to our abuse clients. In ‘no win, no fee’ agreements there are no up-front costs for you and we agree to take on the financial risks.

In abuse cases, the normal rule is that you have three years from your 18th birthday to bring a compensation claim in the civil courts.
It is possible to persuade a court to waive a limitation, and typically this can happen where your abuser has been recently convicted of abusing you, or there is some other powerful reason for the court to disapply limitation.
It is important to speak to a legal team as early as possible to avoid any issues with limitation dates.
