Abuse at St Christopher’s School in Letchworth

Malcolm Johnson, head of our Abuse Compensation department, has been instructed by a number of former pupils from St Christopher’s School, Letchworth, who allege sexual, physical and emotional abuse at this Hertfordshire School between the 1970’s and the 1990’s.

A note from Malcolm Johnson

Malcolm said: “We have identified a culture of abuse of pupils spanning several decades. We have presented our clients’ claims to the school and we are in correspondence with their solicitors. Thus far, there has been no admission of liability or any kind of apology for what happened over so many years. What concerns me about these cases, is the way in which teachers and others were able to abuse pupils with impunity, and in plain sight. We understand that the abuse of children was openly discussed by pupils at the school, who seem to have assumed that this was simply something that happened at St Christopher’s. In the meantime, who were responsible for the pupils’ safety turned a blind eye to what was happening. I would encourage anyone who wishes to tell their own story of what happened at St Christopher’s to approach our team at Lime Solicitors, and we are happy to talk to them.”
