Derbyshire Blood Bikes is a charity dedicated to providing a free, 24/7 urgent courier service, transporting blood and other vital samples and medication throughout Derbyshire to patients in their time of need.
Two of our personal injury specialists, Rose Gibson-Harper and Kevin Harper, have been part of the Blood Bikes community for several years. They volunteer regularly and have given us some further insight into the fantastic work this charity does:
“Derbyshire Blood Bikes has a number of bikes and cars which have all been purchased via donations, and are all serviced and donated by collections. We have 235 volunteers in total, and in 2023, 4487 shifts were worked covering 24 hours a day. Between us we carried out over 6000 journeys transporting blood, equipment, diagnostic samples, human tissue and medication.”
Kevin Harper has been a volunteer rider with Derbyshire Blood Bikes since 2020. Rose Gibson-Harper took on the role of Ambassador in 2022. Working within our serious and catastrophic injury team, Rose and Kevin have a deep-rooted understanding of the types of injuries people can sustain – particularly in road traffic accidents.
