The legal industry faced a formidable opponent when TV quizzer Shaun Wallace took the quizmaster’s seat for a charity fundraising night hosted by our serious injury team, in our office in The Shard in London. This event raised £11,700 for the Katie Piper Foundation.
Known to TV audiences as The Dark Destroyer, Shaun put attendees’ knowledge to the test in an evening of quizzing and fundraising, hosted by burns survivor Katie Piper OBE, who founded the foundation in 2009.
The Katie Piper Foundation supports people living with burns and scars as they navigate recovery and rebuild their confidence. The funds raised will enable the charity to continue providing rehabilitation, emotional support, confidence-building programmes and practical guidance to survivors and their families.
Katie said: “We’re very grateful to Lime Solicitors and No5 Chambers, and the incredible Shaun Wallace for supporting the Katie Piper Foundation. It’s partnerships like these that allow us to carry out our work, which is supporting burns survivors, traumatic scars survivors in the UK with their rehabilitation. We wouldn’t be able to do this without these amazing events It’s also great that everyone gets to have a good time together and have some fun.”
Shaun said: “I’m honoured and privileged to be a co-host with the wonderful Katie Piper. We’re here to raise awareness for what the foundation stands for and to raise as much money as possible to support it. We’re grateful to Lime Solicitors and No5 Chambers for being our sponsors this evening, and to everyone who is here to support this incredible cause.”
We are one of the founding firms appointed to the Katie Piper Foundation’s first national legal panel. The partnership helps survivors of burns and scarring access legal advice following life-changing injuries, including support with claims that can fund the rehabilitation they need to maximise their independence and quality of life.
Martin Usher, our Head of Serious Injury, said: “Burns and scarring can have a profound impact on every aspect of a person’s life, physically and emotionally. Recovery can involve extensive treatment, surgery and specialist rehabilitation, and getting the right support early can make a real difference to someone’s long-term wellbeing and independence.
“As a founding member of the Katie Piper Foundation’s legal panel, we see the importance of working together to help survivors access the support they need to rebuild their lives. This event was a chance for our colleagues and industry partners to get behind that work, raise vital funds and help the foundation continue making a difference to people affected by burns and scars.”
The event was supported by No5 Chambers, whose sponsorship helped bring the fundraising evening together.
